place smelled like the field next door being sprayed w/ manure. The farmers should wipe their feet when they come in I guess. I order the chicken pot pie pile up. If this is home made fare I'd be amazed. The chicken tasted like it was out of a can. The puff pastry was flat and cool. The "filling" was more like soup than anything. For $10.95 there could not have been more than $1.50 of ingredients. For the appetizer we had a cheese/bacon/jalapeno dip w/ chips. The chips were stale and soggy. We found one piece of bacon in the entire dish. Don't waste your time at this dump!

What a disappointment. After reading all of the other reviews we were excited to go to the Roadhouse. They seemed to have an extensive menu and everything look delicious. There were three of us...One ordered the cod fish meal another the club sandwich I had the chicken bacon & pea pasta. Two of us got the grilled caesar salad as a side and both of thought it was delicious and couldnt wait for our meals. That is when the disappointment set in. One friend thought it was a great Idea that the bread on her club sandwich had been grilled. That is...until she realized it was a bit on the overdone side and tasted burnt but edible. My pasta was pretty tasteless. I took a couple of bites of the chicken and thought there was an odd aftertaste so I picked around the rest of the pasta avoiding the chicken. Then, my friend with the cod fish asked me to taste hers because she thought it had an odd taste. I did and had to agree with her. It was almost metallic tasting. The hand cut fries were also pretty tasteless and limp. I thought fries were supposed to be crisp. The one waitress in the place came over and asked if everything was ok when she saw the majority of food was still on my friends plate. I told her the fish batter and fries tasted like they were cooked in "old oil". She gave us a look like oh well...too bad and muttered "I'll let him know". She never even asked if we wanted anything in its place. I also noticed that the manager who seemed to get to everyones table asking how their meals were; never came to our table. The waitress brought our bills and we discovered she took $4.00 off the bill. REALLY...four bucks? The meal was $11.00 and the majority of it was still on the plate. She never apologized or said she took something off the bill. Had she, we probably would have argued about that particular meal. Im sure thats why we never saw her again before we left. It's a couple hours later as I write this review and my stomach is making some odd noises...I hope thats not a sign of something yet to come. We will not eat here again...although I will give them points for having really good root beer.

Food here is great and the menu is very unique for a "country" restaurant. The beer selection on tap is very good and the craft beers pair well with some of the unique food choices. I've been here multiple times and while the staff is friendly and the owner is very nice, the service can be lacking at busy times. If you have time to wait the food is well worth it!

We found a new gem on highway 7. The German Cuban was totally awsome. All homemade so vrry fresh. They have a great selections of German favorites that I have tried. Beer selections outstanding. As far as service the waitresse needes a little more training. We saw more of the manager than waitresse. But they were all very friendly just slow to check on people. I would recommend trying it out. For a small place in the middle of nowhere it was good.

Burgers were great, but the fries were overcooked. Otherwise, nice atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon. Beer selection is extensive, especially for a rural road house.

Kids eat free with an adult Entree is a joke! The menu doesn't even state "entree" all say dinners. We both ordered a cheeseburger and fries, kids got Mac n cheese. Received the bill expecting the kids meals to be free since it clearly states Monday & Tuesday kids eat free with adult meal... Waitress stated kids meals are only free with an Entrees. There's NOT an option on the menu for an Entree! Wasn't even an option to discuss the "special" she walked away and we paid our bill in full! Will never be back.

This restaurant/bar is ON POINT. (Sorry for the CAPS but it does!). Nestled in the middle of nowhere this bar/restaurant is well worth the 20 extra minutes/miles west of Excelsior. With 24 beers on tap, and the large majority of them local/craft brews from Excelsior to St. Paul and everywhere in between, this is a great chance to try some rare, new crafts. And if you are hungry, dang, eat. The food is beyond legit and all made from scratch, innovative cuisine, and just damn good food. Kids will love it too! With a German inspired cuisine there are lots of unique and uncommon dishes, yet plenty of steaks, fish, chicken and pasta dishes to go around. It's a HUGE menu. Try the Buffalo Chicken Mac n Cheese - its insanity in a bowl! The Rusty Heap and Rueben Balls are a must order apps. Tater Tot Hot dish, the Sausage Plate, or, if they have it on special, the huge 12oz. Walleye breaded with Ritz Crackers. All dinners are served with a salad and side giving you plenty of food to feed the hunger. The staff is awesome, the owner pulls a Ditka and visits with each table sharing his love for food and craft brew... blah, blah, blah - Eat and Drink Here. Hollywood Roadhouse has it figured out!!
